The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Science, OEMS (https://www.fit.edu/ocean-engineering-and-marine-sciences/), at Florida Insitute of Technology, in Melbourne on Florida’s Central East Coast is seeking a motivated PhD student to collaborate on a project funded through the National Park Service to develop a real-time predictive model that will provide targeted guidance on marine hazards. This project has both a numerical modeling and a field data collection component.
Successful applicants will have experience building models with Delft3D and enjoy getting out in the field to collect validation data for the models they build.
Applicants should be applying to start in Spring 2024 term.
Applicants must have experience in computer programming (numerical modeling, Matlab, Python, Fortran, C/C++, netcdf and grib files handling)
Successful applicants will have experience with Delft3D
Additional Requirements include:- Strong mathematics and physics background- Very good knowledge of spoken and written English- Ability to work on a team
