The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between University of Tasmania, Australia, and University of Science – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City has been held on 24 November 2023 at the University of Science with the honor presence of Mr. Ciaran Chestnutt, Deputy Consul-General of the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City. The MOU was signed by Dr. Andrew Fischer, on behalf of the University of Tasmania and by Assoc. Prof. Trần Lê Quan, President of the University of Science.
The signing ceremony also received the honor presence of Mrs. Helen McClure, Associate Director and Ms. Thuy Phan, Country Manager – Vietnam, of the International Division of Future Students, University of Tasmania, Dr. Võ Hồng Hải, Deputy Head of the External Relations Office, University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Trần Thiện Thanh, Vice Dean of Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Kameyama Sohiko from Hokkaido University, Japan, and Assoc. Prof. Võ Lương Hồng Phước, Head of Department of Oceanology, Meteorology and Hydrology, University of Science.
The MOU signing is a fruitful result from the initiative cooperation in research and teaching between the Department of Oceanology, Meteorology and Hydrology, University of Science, and Dr. Andrew Fischer of University of Tasmania. The MOU signing was held in the framework of the Short-term International Class on “Changing Coast”, organized by University of Tasmania and University of Science. Therefore, it is one of the most crowded MOU signing ceremony, with the special presence of nearly 30 Australian and Vietnamese students and more than 10 lecturers from Australia, Japan, and Vietnam of the class.
The cooperation in research and teaching between University of Science and University of Tasmania will be strengthened by the MOU signing and is promising with more prosperous results. A second short-term international class on “Changing Coast” is being envisaged between the two Universities in a very near future.
