VNOn August 7, 2026, the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology and Hydrology, Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, held a welcoming meeting for Professor Sohiko Kameyama from Hokkaido University, Japan, who will spend two months working and engaging in academic exchange activities at the Department.
The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thien Thanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Luong Hong Phuoc, Head of the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology and Hydrology; as well as faculty members and students of the Department.
During the meeting, Professor Sohiko Kameyama and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Luong Hong Phuoc discussed the academic, research, and teaching activities to be carried out during his stay. The meeting also provided an opportunity for faculty members, students, and research groups to exchange ideas on potential areas of collaboration and research topics in oceanography and marine science.
During his visit, Professor Sohiko Kameyama and two doctoral students from Hokkaido University will participate in the Department’s research and academic activities, including a field survey in Can Gio in August 2026. Direct participation in the field survey will provide an opportunity for Professor Kameyama and the research teams to exchange experience in survey methods, data collection, and the implementation of field research in coastal marine environments.
In addition to research activities, Professor Kameyama will also participate in a number of teaching and academic exchange activities with faculty members and students of the Department. This will give students an opportunity to learn directly from the research experience and professional perspectives of an international scientist, while also promoting a dynamic academic exchange environment within the Department.
The Department expects that these activities will contribute to strengthening research connections, creating further opportunities for collaboration, and enhancing the quality of education and scientific research.
The Department of Oceanography, Meteorology and Hydrology warmly welcomes Professor Sohiko Kameyama and wishes him a productive stay filled with meaningful experiences and valuable academic exchanges.
