Field trip to the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve

As part of the Workshop on Marine Science and Sustainable Development and in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Oceanology Program, the Department of Oceanology, Meteorology, and Hydrology organized a field trip for scientists to the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve on November 15, 2025.

The delegation’s first stop was the Dan Xay Ecotourism Site, where they engaged in several hands-on activities. These included learning about the history of mangrove restoration in Can Gio, viewing specimen displays of typical mangrove flora and fauna, and studying secondary production models under the forest canopy. The scientists also explored the ecology of the forest’s flora and fauna along designated trails, took a canoe cruise on the river, and participated in catching mud-creeper snails in the forest creeks.
