After attending a warm and joyful ceremony celebrating Vietnamese Teachers’ Day in the morning, the afternoon of November 20, 2023, the continuation of the Changing Coast course with sessions aimed at preparing for the upcoming field trip to Cu Lao Dung, which would depart the following day.

First, Dr. Sohiko Kameyama introduced the class to the methods and steps required to collect and analyze water sample data, including how to collect samples, preserve them, measure key parameters, and process the resulting data.

Next, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Luong Hong Phuoc presented methods for measuring and analyzing chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), an important parameter for assessing biological productivity and the condition of water quality in the survey area.

Another topic of significant interest—microplastics, whose density in water and sediments is increasing—was presented by Ms. Le Nguyen Hoa Tien.

To ensure that the class clearly understood all information about the field trip — including schedule, location, objectives, tasks to be carried out, and safety requirements — Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phong gave a detailed presentation to the class.

Following this, Mr. Sohiko Kameyama, Ms. Vo Luong Hong Phuoc, and other lecturers from the Department of Oceanology, Meteorology, and Hydrology provided instructions on how to use the equipment for the field trip and divided the students into groups according to the measurement tasks that would be conducted aboard the survey boat.

By the end of the session, students had a solid grasp of the work content and requirements necessary to be well-prepared for the field trip.
